Don't Give Up On The Brink Of Your Miracle

I have been on a diet since May. Every dieter knows that the big pay-off for all your hard work is getting on the scale and seeing the number go down. However, I once went a week without having the number drop and it was, to say the least, discouraging. I decided to stay with it regardless of any "visible" evidence that it was working. I have reached the age where being healthy is the main goal in my life. I knew that I was not cheating on the diet, and that I was not eating anything bad for me and so I made the decision that this plateau I was on was only temporary and I stuck with it. Evidentially the number went down again.

I was thinking how this same principal often appears in the life of a Christian. More than once people have written me to say "Why, isn't God answering my prayers, I am living my life for Him and yet I am not getting answers?"

Just because we don't see "visible " evidence of the working of Christ on our problems doesn't mean He isn't working behind the scenes to bring us His best solution and answer to our prayers.

The greatest tool that I see Satan using against Christians today is the tool of discouragement. He knows that his time is short and if he can get us discouraged enough we might lose our faith entirely.

Job was a man who had gone through many, many of the worst trials a man could experience and yet he didn't give up on God. His own wife told him, in the midst of it, "Curse God and die." Job lost everything. He lost his wealth, children, and home. Yet he decided to stay with God no matter what happened. Why? Because sometimes God is the only thing we have to hold onto. We have to believe that God is in the midst of whatever troubles we have and He is standing right there with us surrounding us with his love. It's a matter of making up our minds that God loves us and will take care of us no matter what it looks like in the natural.

When my oldest son was young, he wanted a special football for his birthday. He got that football and then one day it disappeared from the front yard where he had accidentally forgotten it. He was broken hearted. Like any mother, seeing him crying at 8 years old broke my heart. I told the kids that we needed to pray about it. We sat down and all four kids and I began to pray. I prayed that the football would be returned to us "In the Name of Jesus." Immediately the kids and I heard a "thud" in the backyard. The football was back and my son was thanking Jesus! I don't know if our loud praying influenced the person who had the football to return it or if God performed a miracle. We did, however, get an instant answer. Sometimes God has given me instant answers to my prayers; sometimes I have had to pray over a matter for years! The point is that if we stay faithful to God and don't give up He will answer our prayers. Our Heavenly Father's heart is tender towards us, His Children, and it grieves Him to see us broken hearted also.

I have never had a prayer that wasn't answered in one way or the other. More often than not it's not done in the way or timeframe I thought it would be done in. God is going to answer your prayer! When He does answer it you will be blessed in an even greater way then you could ever imagine. Just like sticking to diet has it rewards, sticking with belief in God, has it rewards.

This isn't the time to go back to doing what you were doing before you were saved. This isn't the time to give up on God like a spoiled child. Cling to Him; let him know that you intend to stick close to Him, no matter what happens!

Please write me with praise reports on your answered prayers when you get them!
